Who writes the content

Content is prepared by Altitude Creative, the agency that manages this website on behalf of Dr Walid Aly. Drafts may be prepared with the help of AI writing tools. Every draft is checked by a person against the sources listed on the page, and no AI tool is given patient information.

Clinical review

Pages that contain medical information are reviewed by a qualified clinician before they are published. Each clinical page shows:

  • who wrote it
  • who reviewed it, and their qualifications
  • the date of the review and when the next review is due
  • the sources it relies on.

Until a page has been clinically reviewed, it is not published. Pages are reviewed at least every 12 months, and sooner when the guidance they rely on changes. For example, our fasting guide is re-checked whenever ANZCA revises its fasting guideline.

Sources

We rely on current Australian guidance first, in this order of preference:

  1. the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA)
  2. Victorian Government sources, such as the Department of Health, Better Health Channel and Safer Care Victoria
  3. healthdirect Australia
  4. the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne
  5. the Australian Society of Anaesthetists
  6. peer-reviewed research.

We summarise guidance in our own words and link to the original. We do not reproduce professional documents in full.

What we do not publish

In line with the National Law and Ahpra’s advertising guidelines, this website does not include:

  • patient testimonials, reviews or patient stories
  • claims that a procedure is risk-free, painless or guaranteed
  • prices, discounts or offers
  • the brand names of prescription medicines
  • statistics or claims that cannot be verified.

Facts about Dr Aly come from the Ahpra public register or are clearly labelled as recorded in his 2024 CV.

Images

We do not present illustrations or stock images as real patients, procedures, facilities or Dr Aly. Illustrative images are labelled where they could be mistaken for real people or places.

Advertising and sponsorship

This website does not carry advertising or sponsored content and does not accept payment from companies for its content.
